I finally got enough Amber, Steel, Tanned Hides and cash together yesterday to get my 15K Kurzick Armour...

... But I made a fairly heinous mistake.

Most of it was Nightstalkers (15% Attacking)... but I accidentally purchased the Infiltrator's Guise (10% Phys, 10% Piercing).

I'm just curious as to how much of a worse situation I'm going to be in if I keep it... to if I spend the absolute AGE collecting Tanned Hides (I used up 400 crafting the armour, and I'll need another 150 for a new guise), fighting Alliance Battles (at least 30, but more like 60) and gathering cash?

I mean... I see that Infiltrator's guise might be handy if there are a lot of rangers about, but other than that its just going to leave me exposed in the chest region... by 5 armour against warriors and other assassins, and by 15 against spellcasters... assuming I'm attacking constantly while in range.

Its gonna take a long time for me to forgive myself this transgression.

So... should I keep it or save up to replace it (and hope I don't make the same stupid mistake twice).

I wouldn't be too worried, it's not like it's life or death for your character.

what piece of armor is it?
i honestly wouldnt bother too much with that. if you really cared about stats you'd prolly just use a pvp char.

Try salvaging. I think I might have some Tanned hides for you, if I didn't use them for my Paragon.

tbh I don't see why you are using that sort in the first place, a good sin uses the +energy armor, or +hp armor.

Might be. Might not be. As an Assassin I'm not too good at the conventional builds and need a bit more practice at shadow-stepping among other things.

15K Kurzick Infiltrator's Guise (Cuirass / Chest-piece).
And what good would a PvP character do? I'm a PvE Assassin.

I appreciate the offer, but ideally I need advice here on just how much of a difference it will make. I can fetch the replacement gear myself if I have to... I'm quite used to grinding, and I'm thinking of doing chest-grinding in Echovald besides (no shortage of hides dropped by Wardens).

I already have a Shrouded (weird brown-coloured Exotic) outfit... Its what I'm using until my 15K Kurzick is ready (i.e. when I've either accepted the guise I have or replaced it with Nightstalkers... and then kitted it out with runes). I'm getting the Nightstalkers for less energy-intensive melee builds. Sooner or later I'm going to replace my current shrouded set with an Ascended shrouded set... though probably later rather than sooner (either Vabbian or 15K Exotic). I like to have multiple sets of armour for different circumstances.
As for Valkyries Armour (+HP) ... thats for PvP... which is something I try to avoid.

i wouldnt worry too much tbh, but i can give u atleast 50 tanned hides

try out the build i posted in pve builds thread, after uve taken out the monks u can just c + space the rest

To be honest, I can't find your post that you speak of in any "PvE Builds" thread... Not in the builds thread here on this board, nor the farming board... nor related inbetween boards. Care to direct me to it? I'm curious at least as to how effective a PvE build an Assassin can manage.

[And to think I originally chose the Assassin class because of my gullible belief of some sarcastic idiot at GameFAQs telling someone else that Assassins were the best class for soloing... ¬_¬ ... I felt like an idiot at the time, but I'm over it now.]

I'd salvage it, and use the piece from your other set for the time being. You'll be fine. You could always A/E solo green farm for cash. 15k isn't that difficult to attain, but it will take some time. Don't worry about Hide, just ask guildies for some, 150 Hide isn't that much. But I hate getting Steel. -.-

my suggestion:

1. make a pvp sin
2. start playing ab
3. trade the faction for amber
4. work out the materials with your buds here
5. buy the one you really want

you will get some pvp experience (where the sin shines brightest) as well as cash and the armour you want.....I dont know about you..but something like that would bug me to death...runnin around with non complementary armour.

That's really bad.. I accidentally forged two of the wrong kind of Torso once because of a faulty mouse, but that was just 1.5k armour!!

I hope you didn't dump your old set. It's a shame I'm not on the Kurzick side any more. Hearing that makes me want to help you AB it all back!

Crisis over folks.
I'm actually surprised so many people offered support rather than laughing as I'd suggested (and to be honest I'd have felt better if more people did laugh at me, as my mistake was a very stupid one and I should have been paying attention).....

... But the crisis is over as Mistical Miss there actually tracked me down in game (whispered me while I was playing my Pre-Searing character [for LDoA]), brought me over to the armoury.... and just gave me the stuff I needed for a replacement.... and a nice pair of daggers besides (not that I was short on daggers or anything)...
[Incidentally, she then helped me capture Way of the Assassin too, which was a bizarre and amusingly frantic experience, involving two Assassins sprinting in tandem through Kourna...]

I'm still a bit weirded out by the experience. I mean I'm not too proud to accept a gift like that... but I still feel like I ought to have worked more for it... to make up for my error.

Still.... I've got my 15K Nightstalkers Kurzick kit now.... and its pretty... and I'm hoping that my Pre-Searing character will hopefully have lots of Dye with her when she eventually enters Post-Searing (with the LDoA title)... Also, I was stupid enough to sell most of my good Assassin runes at a slightly earlier point in order to get the cash to afford the armour the first time. Not sure what I was thinking, but as I recall I got rid of my Major Vigor and Minor Critical Strikes that way. I figure if I keep charging through areas of Echovald Forest I'll re-find the Assassin runes in no time...

I don't green-farm for money as a general rule since I abhor the lengths people go to in order to sell things in Kaineng Center... I will not reduce myself to a "W T S"-spammer ... I'm sure there is another way, and I'll find that when the time comes.

Just thought I'd mention though.... I find it difficult to get the hang of the A/E green-farming build... I was practicing on The Scar Eater for ages at the last green weekend and I killed him 13 times... died about 40 times... and got 1 green for my troubles (then gave up)...
I've used an alternative A/N build (Necro hexes and Assassin defenses) for taking down bosses myself.... generally bosses that the A/E build isn't so good against: i.e. ones that are basically alone (and typically assassins / warriors / the occasional necro or elementalist). I usually bring henchies and heroes along to clear the way to the boss and empty the area of potential aggravators.... then flagging them off into the distance and taking on the boss solo... I've used it to farm Xuekao's Daggers plenty of times and Ghial's Staff twice...

So.... thats that.

i'm gonna laugh, lol, only because i know how you feel, I got 15k end canthan for my monk, just clicking away, realised I got the wrong shoes! After getting 15k kurz for my rit, dying it black, then white, im still wearing the wrong sandals (atleast in Cantha they all look the same).

If i have any extra of hides or amber its yours.. I've done this many times before, except luckly I caught myself on the first armor piece. Word of advice always start with boots and work your way up.

If you want something to comfort you, feel free to challenge assassins for 1vs1, since daggers are piercing dmg

Sai do piercing damage.
Most daggers do Slashing damage.

For the time being however I've put Chae Soon on hold until I'm done getting Legendary Defender of Ascalon with Ghost of the Hyksos.
